Advanced Flight Training

Founded in 2021 to serve the Sonora / Columbia, CA / Central Valley / Southern Sierra / Mother Lode / Yosemite region with affordable and unique aircraft to expand a pilots comfort zone and open up new possibilities and experiences in aviation.  We are located at 

Columbia Airport in Columbia, CA (O22) & Livermore, CA (KLVK).

We know what it takes to do it right and we're doing it that way!

We know that learning is easier when you have an excellent teacher. That's why most of our instructors have achieved an advanced training in their field and have a long history of experience in all areas of aviation and beyond. Our instructors are passionate about the subjects they teach and bring this enthusiasm into their lessons. We don't like the idea of a low timer teaching. We believe that just because someone possesses a Flight Instructor Rating, doesn't mean they have the skill, experience or knowledge to be a good teacher.

Our instructors have lots of time, experience and knowledge in their given fields and we think you'll like who you fly with!

Are you a beginner, expert, or somewhere in between? Not to worry! We offer a variety of high-quality courses designed to prepare you for your next step. We offer placement tests to help match you to your skill level. Weather you're just starting out as a recreational flyer, or working towards a professional career, we can help!

We offer top notch quality aircraft maintained to the highest standards. It can be hard to keep a 70 year old airplane in good shape, but we make sure our planes are maintained above and beyond minimum standards and that issues are addressed immediately. Our paperwork is straight, our airplanes are clean and are in tip top shape! Even the FAA is impressed!

You may be confused as to the differences between a flight school, flight academy, or flying club.

In part the differences can be just in the name, however in the case of our flying club, our "Flight School" is more than just a school, its is a community of fellow aviators in varying levels of experience. We utilize those experiences for students and pilots to help each other advance their knowledge, education and skillset. Group events and training events and exercises are less like school and more like hanging out with friends!

We can offer almost all facets of flight training! From a private pilot license, to Instrument ratings, multi engine ratings, Commercial Pilot rating, and even flight instructor ratings!

Were big on the "tailwheel endorsement in a weekend" because it can be done! We can put you with an instructor and fly all weekend long! you can even camp in the wonderful Columbia Airport Campground, with showers and toilets, or take our courtesy car and stay in town! In most cases, we can send you home a tailwheel pilot!

We can also do weekend mountain flying courses, and STOL course!

Many spin endorsements can be done in a day!

Advanced training in odd or special types. Our instructors have experience in hundreds of types!
